Phil Lord and Chris Miller are two of my favourite filmmakers going round. Now, they didn’t direct this, but Lord helped write the script and they both produced this and frankly, it feel like their fingerprints are throughout (credit to the directors though, Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsay, and Rodney Rothman!).
Anyway, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse features Shameik Moore voicing Miles Morales, who (I’ll try not to spoil anything haha) comes across an alternate dimension Peter Parker who then has to help mentor Morales. They also have to team up with other alternate Spider-people, and as a result there’s a really cool self-awareness angle, wrapped in a nice little emotional story.
In fact, my only complaint might be that the villain, Kingpin comes across a bit generic in the end. In theory this is fine because you need some grounded simplicity to help balance the craziness, but there’s still something about his angle which I’d have liked more from, which you can discover yourself.
All in all though, SM:ITSV is excellent and you should definitely watch it!
