Directed by Dexter Fletcher, Rocketman is one heck of a music biopic about Elton John. Taron Egerton stars as the title character, and compared to Bohemian Rhapsody, it’s pretty interesting.
For one thing, it conventionally opens as he’s in rehab, but jumps around in time and really interweaves fantasy moments, so the film definitely has a life of its own. It’s also interesting to, say, see Bryce Dallas Howard with a British accent as Elton’s mum, Jamie Bell as his best friend Bernie, and so on.
All in all the cast definitely excels and even if you’re like me and are a bit skeptical of biopics, this has enough flair and sincerity that you ought not to miss it!
